American Airlines Furloughing Hundreds Of Philly Airport Workers
Hundreds of American Airlines employees at the Philadelphia International Airport are being furloughed due to the coronavirus.

PHILADELPHIA — American Airlines is another carrier planning to furlough employees at the Philadelphia International Airport.
According to a Department of Labor and Industry Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice, American Airlines plans to furlough 1,900 workers at the airport due to the coronavirus.
Thirty-one employees will be laid off and 1,869 will be furloughed.

The furloughs will go into effect Oct. 1, the notice states.
While hundreds of American Airlines employees will be out of work, the furloughs are expected to be temporary due to the nature of the coronavirus pandemic.

According to NBC10, the airline employs about 8,000 people at the airport.
The announcement comes about two weeks after United Airlines announced it was furloughing about 100 workers at the Philadelphia International Airport.
