Beer Price Increase At Citizens Bank Park Lowest In MLB, Study Says

While some ballparks have lower beer prices than in 2015, most others have higher prices. Beer at The Bank saw the smallest price increase.

PHILADELPHIA — For baseball fans who like to quaff a beer while enjoying games at ballparks, sticker shock has become commonplace.

Prices for nearly all goods and services have increased in the United States for years, and a cold one at a baseball game was not spared from price hikes.

And while beer prices at Citizens Bank Park have increased, the new prices represent the lowest among other MLB stadium beer prices.

According to sports betting website Action Network, beer prices at The Bank have only gone up 2 percent, the lowest increase among other MLB ballparks.

The website found that fans at Citizens Bank Park in 2015 paid $7.75 for a beer on average.

In 2023, the price went up to $7.90.

Of the MLB's 30 teams, 23 raised beer prices from 2015 to 2023, and the Phillies were No. 23 for the highest increase.

The team that saw the highest beer price hike was the Washington Nationals, with Action Network reporting prices increased from $6.50 in 2015 to $15.40 in 2023, representing a 137 percent increase.

But what about the remaining seven teams?

From 2015 to 2013, they actually decreased beer prices.

The website found the cheapest beer in the league is offered at Empower Field, home of the Colorado Rockies. In 2023, beer was $3.08. That's down nearly 50 percent from 2015, when beer was $6.

For the 2015 data, Action Network referenced the MLB Fan Cost Index, which listed the cheapest beer prices available. The current cheapest beer prices were based on the most recent Fan Cost Index, conducted during the 2023 season.

Below are the top five ballparks with the highest beer price increases

  1. Washington Nationals — $6.50 to $15.40, 137 percent increase
  2. Baltimore Orioles — $6.75 to $11.29, 67 percent increase
  3. Pittsburgh Pirates — $5.50 to $9.16, 67 percent increase
  4. Chicago White Sox — $6.50 to $10.79, 66 percent increase
  5. Texas Rangers — $5 to $8.22, 64 percent increase

Below are the top five ballparks with the biggest beer price drops:

  1. Colorado Rockies — $6 to $3.08, 49 percent decrease
  2. Toronto Blue Jays — $6.79 to $4.56, 33 percent decrease
  3. Minnesota Twins — $7.50 to $5.13, 32 percent decrease
  4. Atlanta Braves — $7.25 to $5.13, 29 percent decrease
  5. Kansas City Royals — $6.50 to $5.14, 21 percent decrease
