Here are the top three stories today in Philadelphia:
- President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden were seen in Philly for a day of service ahead of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. On Sunday, the Bidens packed carrots and apples into boxes at Philabundance, a local food bank that serves the hungry across Philadelphia and South Jersey. Though the MLK Day of Service is typically held on Monday, events were rescheduled around the region due to the anticipated winter storm hitting the east coast. (WDEL 1150AM)
- Philadelphia police are investigating an armed robbery at a Fentonville-area gas station. The incident, which took place Saturday evening, involved four masked men taking $25,000 from the Exxon station; there are no reports of any injuries. Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact 215-686-TIPS. (WPVI-TV)
- Northbound I-95 travelers can expect lane closures between Spruce Street and Race Street in Philadelphia this Thursday and Friday. The closures will allow for barrier installation as part of a project tackling high-priority repairs on 13 structures on I-95, Interstate 295, and Interstate 476. All scheduled projects are dependent on the weather. (MyChesCo)
