Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens presents a three-week panel mosaic workshop, where participants will be led by PMG’s Preservation Team in creating their own 24” x 16” mosaic panel using the Zagar Method of mosaicking. Discover this freeing and versatile art form with staff who have trained with PMG creator Isaiah Zagar and are responsible for maintaining the mosaics at Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens. Participants should plan to take their mosaic home with them on the last day of class on February 12. Framing is available for a discounted rate at New Image Art & Framing, 601 S. 9th Street. Participants must be at least 18 years old to participate in this workshop. All supplies are included.
- Week 1 (January 29): Create a “blob” with colorful grout and glaze tiles to use in your mosaic
- Week 2 (February 5): Learn to break tile and cut mirror, plan your design, and place tiles
- Week 3 (February 12): Grout your mosaic and take your masterpiece home
