Chiefs Bar In Philly Cancels Super Bowl Event, Will Be Closed Sunday

Big Charlie's Saloon had to cancel its Super Bowl watch party and close on Sunday after overselling tickets to its party.

PHILADELPHIA — Kansas City Chiefs fans in Philadelphia no longer have a haven to watch the game with fellow fans.

One of the city's only bars dedicated to the Chiefs, Big Charlie's Saloon in South Philadelphia, will be closed for the Super Bowl.

"It saddens us to say, we will not be hosting the Super Bowl this year in any fashion," the bar posted on social media.

According to Big Charlies, they simply cannot accommodate everyone who wants to watch the game at the Chiefs outpost.

"We’ve had to turn way too many patrons away," they said.

So not only will the bar not be showing the big game, it will be closed outright.

"The best thing for us to do is to stay closed," the bar said. "We hope you understand and we’ll see you next season. In the meantime, GO CHIEFS!"

According to Philadelphia Magazine, the bar sold tickets to its Super Bowl event, but not through an online service.

This, the outlet reports, led to overselling tickets, which led to the bar promising seats that exceed the establishment's capacity.
