Child Shot In Philadelphia On New Year's Day: Reports

A child, 3 to 4 years old, was shot in the foot Thursday evening in what investigators believe was an accidental incident.

PHILADELPHIA — A toddler is recovering after being shot in the foot on New Year's Day inside a Philadelphia residence.

According to NBC10, the boy was shot at about 5 p.m. in a home on the 900 block of North 42nd Street in West Philadelphia.

Investigators learned of the shooting when the boy, reported to be 3 to 4 years old, and his father took him to a hospital with a gunshot wound to his foot, Action News reports. The boy is in stable condition.

According to Fox 29, authorities believe the shooting was accidental, but are working to determine who was holding the firearm when it went off.
