PHILADELPHIA — The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia received its largest donation ever thanks to the head of Comcast and his family, the healthcare provider announced Thursday. And the donation will help create a new inpatient tower that is expected to open in 2028.

CHOP said this hospital of the future in Philadelphia has been made possible in part by a $125 million gift from Comcast CEO and Chairman Brian Roberts along with his wife Aileen and their family.

With the donation, CHOP will construct the 20-story Roberts Children’s Health. This new inpatient complex will be the premier global destination for pediatric care when it opens in 2028, officials said
