Medical Emerency Likely Caused Crash On I-76 In Philadelphia: Police

Pennsylvania State Police said A tractor trailer, a Mazda 3, and Chevrolet Cruze were involved in the crash Tuesday morning on I-76 west.

PHILADELPHIA — A three-vehicle crash caused a closure on Interstate 76 west in Philadelphia Tuesday morning, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

The crash happened at about 7:55 a.m. on I-76 W at mile marker 342.1 between the Girard and Montgomery avenue exits, police said.

A tractor trailer, a Mazda 3, and Chevrolet Cruze were involved in the crash.

Police believe one of the drivers suffered a medical emergency, which lead to the crash.

The crash collision caused the complete closure of I-76 west due to a large debris field covering all lanes of travel and extensive damage to several of the vehicles.

The center lane of travel was re-opened at approximately 8:35 a.m. and all lanes were opened by 9:25 a.m.

The truck driver was taken to a local hospital for evaluation after the collision, police said.
