Cyclist Killed In Crash Tuesday Morning: Philadelphia Police

Philadelphia Police said a cyclist died after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday morning on the 1600 block of Belmont Avenue in West Philly.

PHILADELPHIA — A west Philadelphia crash Tuesday morning left a bicyclist dead, according to Philadelphia Police.

The crash happened at about 9:52 a.m. Tuesday on the 1600 block of Belmont Avenue, police said.

Two vehicles, a black Dodge Charger and a black Chrysler, were speeding along northbound Belmont Avenue and approached Avenue of the Republic.

A bicyclist riding east on Avenue of the Republic was struck by one of the vehicles, police said.

The impact ejected the cyclist onto the highway, causing critical injuries.

He was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he died at 10:24 a.m.

As police responded to the scene, investigators saw a black Dodge Charger parked on the side of the highway on the 3200 block of Sedgley Drive.

Several men were seemingly inspecting the front end of the vehicle. Police stopped to investigate and ultimately seized the vehicle for further examination.

However, no arrests have been made.
