Driver Leaves Scene After Striking Pedestrian: Philadelphia Police
The woman who was hit is in critical condition, and the driver left the scene before police finished their investigation, authorities said.
PHILADELPHIA — A woman is in extremely critical condition after being hit by a vehicle Thursday night in Philadelphia, and police said the striking driver drove off before police could finish their investigation.
The crash happened at about 10:15 p.m. on the 700 block of West Lehigh Avenue, police said.
A 34-year-old woman was walking east on Lehigh when she was struck by a silver Mercedes-Benz, according to authorities.

The driver, a black woman, stopped and got out to check on the victim, but then returned to the vehicle, police said.
She stayed at the scene until medics and police arrived, but left before police finished the investigation into the crash, at about 10:45 p.m.

The woman who was struck was taken to Temple University Hospital, where she was listed in extremely critical condition.
Police are still investigating the crash.
