  1. On Wednesday afternoon, a 17-year-old was killed in southwest Philadelphia during a shooting in the 2300 block of South 66th Street. The teen was shot in the chest and pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. No arrests have been made and no further details have been released. (CBS Philly)
  2. According to the TSA, in the last three days, two guns have been seized at Philadelphia International Airport. On Jan. 22, a local woman attempted to bring a gun loaded with six bullets onto a plane in her handbag. On Jan. 25, the TSA found a man from Montgomery County with an unloaded handgun in his carry-on bag. Both passengers were stopped at the security checkpoint. (Daily Voice)
  3. A new Philadelphia program is aiming to decrease LGBTQ homelessness. The program, called “Way Home,” is a one-of-a-kind rapid rehousing program that is specifically designed for the LGBTQ community. Officials have found that LBGTQ people are twice as likely to end up homeless. (WAMU 88.5)
  4. A Philadelphia resident admitted to authorities that he was one of two people hired by a New Jersey political operative to kill a former associate. Bomani Africa pled guilty to conspiracy to commit murder for hire. Sean Caddle admitted earlier in the week that he paid two people in 2014 to kill Michael Galdieri, the son of former State Sen. James Galdieri (D-Jersey City) and local political figure. (Northern Highlands Daily Voice)
