I-95 Shooting Saturday Leaves 1 Hurt: State Police

Pennsylvania State Police said a person was shot in the leg Saturday night on Interstate 95 near the Walt Whitman Bridge in Philadelphia.

PHILADELPHIA — Pennsylvania State Police in Philadelphia are investigating a shooting on Interstate 95 over the weekend that left one person hurt.

According to authorities, the shooting took place at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday on Interstate 95 south in the area of the Walt Whitman Bridge in Philadelphia.

Troopers got a report of a shooting at that time and location, and found the victim in a parking lot outside Live! Casino in South Philadelphia.

Police said the victim was struck once in the leg by gunfire and was taken to Thomas Jefferson Hospital.

Investigators believe the victim was heading south in I-95 when his vehicle was hit by gunfire at just before the Walt Whitman Bridge exit.

After the shooting, the Victim got off the highway and drove to the casino, where he called 911.

Authorities Sunday afternoon closed Interstate 95 south between Christopher Columbus Boulevard and the Walt Whitman Bridge to look for evidence related to the shooting. State police did not indicate any evidence was located in that area.
