- A Jefferson Hospital employee is accused of going on a deadly crime spree Monday, killing a co-worker and shooting two police officers before he was finally stopped. There were more than 80 evidence markers on the ground after a gun battle between the shooter and police. The officers are now being treated at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center as police try to make sense of it all. (CBS Philly)
- Powerful Philadelphia labor leader Johnny "Doc" Dougherty went on trial Monday in a City Hall corruption case that accuses him of keeping a City Council member on the union payroll to push his agenda. Dougherty, 61, who has steered more than $30 million in union funds to political candidates, faces a later extortion trial over other union activities. He expressed confidence that he would clear his name as he arrived for jury selection Monday at the federal courthouse. (WPVI-TV)
- Philadelphia police are investigating a deadly shooting in West Philadelphia on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred on the 100 block of South 45th Street shortly before 2 p.m. Police say the victim, a man between the ages of 30 and 40, was shot once in the neck and once in the shoulder. (FOX 29 News Philadelphia)
- Twenty-one-year-old Cayley Cohan of South Jersey has filed a federal lawsuit against former police officer Joseph Bologna, police officer Lezlie Winters, and the City of Philadelphia over a violent encounter she had with Bologna on Jun. 2, 2020, during the protests in the wake of George Floyd’s murder. The encounter was caught on video. According to her lawsuit, Cohan brushed her foot against Bologna’s front bike tire and kept walking. Bologna allegedly grabbed her, saying, “Don’t touch my bike.” (Philadelphia magazine)
- The Philadelphia Orchestra is returning to live, in-person performances at the Kimmel Center with a grand opening night celebration featuring Yo-Yo Ma. The stage is set for the Philadelphia Orchestra's "Opening Night Celebration." The performance will be tonight. (WPVI-TV)
