- A mass shooting in North Philadelphia left a man dead and five other people injured, and three other men were killed in separate incidents Monday and Tuesday, police said.
Gunshots erupted just after 2:15 p.m. Tuesday near the corner of Broad Street and Chew Avenue in the Fern Rock neighborhood of the city. Steven Jones, 26, who lived in the area, was struck several times in the chest, and he died just before 3 p.m. at Einstein Medical Center, according to authorities. Four other men, ranging in age from 19 to 25, were wounded and their injuries are not expected to be life-threatening. (Metro US) - SEPTA wants to improve the Regional Rail, and nothing is off-limits, the transportation authority said in announcing a new plan as part of its SEPTA Forward initiative on Tuesday. SEPTA says “Reimagining Regional Rail” will seek feedback from everyone from current riders to former rides to everyone in between, including Regional Rail operators and staff about how to revamp the service. - Sixers star point guard Ben Simmons appears to have finally reached the end of his tenure in Philadelphia. While rumors and discontent have been brewing ever since the Sixers' unceremonious ousting from the early rounds of the postseason this spring, a report on Tuesday is the clearest evidence yet that the Simmons era Philadelphia is over. Simmons has no intention of playing a game for the Sixers again and will not report to training camp when it opens next week, sources in the league told ESPN. (Philadelphia Patch)
