Man Fatally Shot Outside Philly Bar Sunday Morning

Philadelphia Police said a man died after being shot in the head while being confronted by an armed security guard outside a sports bar.

PHILADELPHIA — Police in Philadelphia said a man was fatally shot by an armed security guard outside a bar Sunday morning.

At about 2:40 a.m. Sunday, police were called to the 3400 block of North Second Street for a report of a person with a gun.

There, they found a man outside a sports bar with a gunshot wound to his head.

He was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:59 a.m.

Police said early investigation details show that the victim was inside the bar before being thrown out by security.

After leaving, he returned with a firearm but was confronted by armed security, police said. During this second encounter, the victim was fatally shot, according to police.

Police have not announced any charges in connection with the shooting.

The shooting is under investigation.
