Market Street Lanes Open After Emergency Repairs Completed
A hole appeared in the Market Street Bridge over the Schuylkill River Monday, forcing lanes to close as emergency repairs were made.
PHILADELPHIA — Market Street is back to normal — kind of — after emergency repairs forced lanes to close Monday.
PennDOT said all lanes of Market Street between 30th and 23rd streets are open again after they were closed Monday.
The lanes were closed after a hole appeared on a section of the bridge at about 1 p.m. Monday.

Officials said the age of the concrete and high temperatures are contributing factors to the damage.
At about 8:10 a.m. Tuesday, PennDOT announced its contractor had completed repairs to the bridge and the closed lanes on eastbound and westbound Market street have reopened.
