- Philadelphia police are asking for the public's help finding a missing 10-year-old girl from West Mount Airy. Qadr Williamson was last seen by her foster mother on the 300 block of Glen Echo Road around 7:45 a.m. Thursday. She is described as 5-foot-5, 125 lbs, with a medium build, dark complexion, brown eyes and black braided/locked hair. (FOX 29 Philadelphia)
- In the wake of various criminal incidents involving SEPTA riders, employees, and contracted security officers, a Philadelphia council member is calling for hearings to address the ongoing issues. Councilmember David Oh, on Thursday, introduced a resolution calling for city councilβs committees on transportation, public utilities, and public safety to hold joint hearings regarding safety in SEPTA facilities and aboard SEPTA vehicles. In the resolution, Oh cited a number of recent incidents including an alleged rape that occurred on the Market-Frankford Line last Wednesday (FOX 29 Philadelphia)
- Interstate 95 has reopened after a police investigation and fire closed the southbound lanes for a brief time Thursday morning. According to police, the incident began at about 9:30 a.m. when U.S. Marshals attempted to serve a Megan's Law warrant to a 33-year-old man at a homeless encampment in the 100 block of Spring Garden Street. The man was in a tent with a propane tank (WPVI-TV)
- A Philadelphia police officer has been arrested in connection with an assault earlier in the year. Officer Joseph Marion, a 9-year veteran of the force, punched a male in the mouth with a closed fist during a physical altercation on April 18. Police say a struggle ensued between the officer and the male, at which point, Officer Marion's gun fell to the ground. (WPVI-TV)
- School safety is on the minds of many parents and students in Philadelphia, following a deadly shooting near Lincoln High School. As students and staff headed into school Tuesday morning, there were grief counselors on-site to assist individuals impacted by the shooting.
An anti-violence rally was held at the intersection of Rowland and Ryan Avenue in Mayfair on Tuesday afternoon. Thatβs where gunfire erupted around 2:45 p.m. Monday as students were leaving Lincoln High School. A man was killed and a teenager was seriously hurt.(CBS 3)
