Here are the top three stories today in Philadelphia:
- As staffing issues persist due to COVID-19, The School District of Philadelphia announced that dozens of schools will move to virtual learning for the second week. Many educators are out and in quarantine due to contracting the virus. The district is reviewing schools on a case-by-case basis and will update their statuses as the situation progresses. (FOX 29 Philadelphia)
- On Monday morning a woman was shot on the 1500 block of Pratt Street in the Northwood section of Philadelphia. The woman, who is 18 years old, was shot in the face and taken to Einstein Medical Center. Authorities have made no arrests in the case yet. (WPVI-TV)
- After a two-year pause, Opera Philadelphia is returning to indoor performances. The performances will be held at the Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center. The Oprea will perform Igor Stravinsky's "Oedipus Rex" and George Walker's "Lilacs" on Jan. 21 at 8 p.m. and Jan. 23 at 2 p.m. Due to the surge in COVID-19 cases, tickets can be refunded if you can no longer attend.
