Nails Damage Vehicles On I-76 During Rush Hour Commute
Numerous vehicles were damaged by nails that were scattered across Interstate 76 near Montgomery Drive during the evening commute Tuesday.
PHILADELPHIA — More than a dozen vehicles were reportedly damaged by nails that had been scattered across Interstate 76 in Philadelphia during the evening commute.
Pennsylvania State Police said the incident damaged about 20 vehicles.
The incident happened on Interstate 76 west, right at the on-ramp from Montgomery Drive, at about 5 p.m. Tuesday, PennDOT officials tod Patch.

About 1,000 nails were scattered across all lanes of I-76 west, forcing state police troopers to close three travel lanes.
State police said there is no evidence that the nails were placed intentionally, and Action News reports the nails fell off a truck.

Crews came in to sweep the nails off the road, and the closed lanes were open at 5:38 p.m.
