Phanatic Named Best, Most Intimidating MLB Mascot In New Survey

A survey of MLB fans done by Casino.ca found out which mascots are the most loved, and also the most feared.

PHILADELPHIA — A new study has crowned the Phillie Phanatic the best mascot in the MLB, and he also earned another superlative in the study.

Casino.ca surveyed 2,000 MLB fans to find out what they thought about mascots in the league.

These fans were surveyed to examine their attitudes toward mascots, ranking them from best to worst and giving them a rating out of five.

And the fans have spoken: the Phanatic was No. 1 when it comes to the best mascot.

He earned a 4.5 out of 5, putting him above his rival Mr. Met of the New York Mets, who earned 4.4 out of five.

And, fans also said the Phanatic was the most intimidating/scariest mascot. In that list, he got a score of 4.34 out of five, beating out Baxter of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Oh, one more thing. The Phanatic was No. 3 in the list of the best mascot across every major professional sports league (NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, MLS). The Phanatic's pal Gritty was No. 4 on that list.

The survey showed 91 percent of Philadelphia Phillies fans feel mascots add to the game experience, while 64 percent say it’s due to their entertainment value.

  5. Billy the Marlin, Miami Marlins
