Here are the top stories today in Philadelphia:

  1. With thousands of people still waiting for help, Philadelphia’s emergency rental assistance program could run out of money in as little as two weeks, as the city waits to receive more funding from the U.S. Treasury. Another $35 million in federal relief is on the way, though exactly when it will arrive is unclear. But even that won’t be enough money to help everyone who has applied, said Gregory Heller, who is overseeing the program. (PennLive)
  2. One man was killed and another was injured after a shooting in the Tioga-Nicetown section of Philadelphia. It happened just after midnight Thursday on the 1800 block of West Park Avenue. Police say the two victims were shot at close range outside the Tender Touch Lounge. (WPVI-TV)
  3. Central Bucks Regional Police have issued an arrest warrant for a woman charged with Abuse of Care Dependant and related offenses. Authorities state that an arrest warrant has been issued for Theresa Floyd, a 43-year-old female from Philadelphia. Floyd is wanted for assaulting a patient at the Harborview Rehabilitation and Care Center in Doylestown, PA. (MyChesCo)
  4. Wawa is closing its store at 9th and South streets as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact the popular Delaware County convenience store chain’s operations. The 901 South St. store, located next to a Whole Foods, will permanently close on Oct. 17. The 24-hour location had a more than two-year run on South Street, which has looked different in recent years as businesses including Percy Street Barbecue, Snap Kitchen South Street, and Downey’s Irish Pub and Restaurant have closed. (NBC 10 Philadelphia)
  5. A father has crossed the Atlantic Ocean to walk barefoot for 1,200 miles along the East Coast of the U.S. He is doing this to raise money to help treat his daughter's rare genetic disease. About a month ago, Chris Brannigan started his trip in Maine and made his way to Philadelphia on Thursday. He has nearly 500 miles to go until he reaches his destination of Jacksonville, North Carolina. (WPVI-TV)
