Philly Man Killed In Connecticut Road Rage Incident: Authorities

Haneef McKnight, 28, died after being run over a truck during an apparent road rage altercation earlier this week in Connecticut.

PHILADELPHIA — A Philadelphia man was killed in a Connecticut road rage incident this week, according to authorities.

Connecticut State Police said Friday morning the man killed was identified as Haneef McKnight, 28, of Philadelphia.

According to the Connecticut State Police, McKnight was run over by one of the trucks and killed during an apparent road rage altercation.

In a release issued Wednesday morning, police said at about 3:16 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, troopers were called to I-84 East before Exit 44 in West Hartford for a reported road rage incident.

According to police, a tractor-trailer was traveling in the right lane while a box truck was traveling in the center lane.

Police said that, while in congested traffic, one of the operators exited their vehicle, ran across the highway, and climbed into the box truck.

This caused a disturbance inside the vehicle.

"In the midst of the disturbance, one of the involved individuals was run over by one of the involved vehicles," state police said in the release.

Police on Friday released no other details about Tuesday's incident, and the case "remains an active and ongoing investigation."
