Here are the top stories today in Philadelphia:

  1. After taking a year off for COVID-19 restrictions, the country’s oldest Thanksgiving Day parade is returning to the streets of Philly. City officials announced last week that Philadelphians who mask and socially distance will be welcomed along the city’s parade route to watch balloons, performers, and floats. Spectators can expect to see performances by Amy Grant, Kool & the Gang, Tag Team, and others. The parade kicks off at 9:00 a.m. on Thanksgiving day, Nov. 25. (Philadelphia Sunday Sun)
  2. Every person working for the city of Philadelphia must complete a full schedule of COVID-19 vaccinations by early 2022 or face losing their jobs. The city announced Friday that it would require every city worker, including union workers, to be vaccinated by Jan. 14. Previously, Philadelphia had mandated vaccines for health care workers and people in higher education, among others. This announcement comes as federal COVID-19 vaccine requirements are being suspended by OSHA. (NBC 10 Philadelphia)
  3. Philadelphia police are asking for the public's health in identifying a homicide suspect. On Nov. 3 at 12:14 a.m., a male victim was located in a vehicle parked in the 2000 block of E. Tioga Street. The victim was shot multiple times and died of his injuries. The suspect vehicle was seen in the area and is described as a white 2012-2015 Ford Taurus SHO. Police say a $20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction for every homicide in the city of Philadelphia. (MyChesCo)
  4. In an effort to find forever homes for rescue dogs and in celebration of Thanksgiving, the Pennsylvania SPCA is slashing dog adoption fees. From Sunday, Nov. 21 to Friday, Nov. 26, the rescue group is reducing adoption fees on all dogs by 50 percent. The PSPCA's Philadelphia headquarters is nearly completely full of adoptable dogs. (Philadelphia Patch)
  5. Giant's rapid expansion in the Philadelphia region is continuing with the opening of two full-fledged grocery stores and an Heirloom market next month. The Pennsylvania-based supermarket chain will open a new grocery store along the Delaware River waterfront and an Heirloom market in the Fashion District. Giant already has opened two stores in the city this year, including one that debuted in Northeast Philly last week. (PhillyVoice.com)
