Philly A Top 10 City For Bed Bug Infestations: Orkin

PHILADELPHIA — Few things cause the shock and fear of finding bed bugs in your home.

The parasitic pests are notoriously vile and hard to get rid of, as intense cleaning is required to ensure an infestation is eradicated.

And unfortunately, bed bug infestations are far too common in Philadelphia, according to extermination professionals Orkin.

Orkin recently released its list of 2022's most bed bug-ridden cities in the United States.

To draft the list, Orkin looked at data from the metro areas where Orkin performed the most residential and commercial bed bug treatments from Dec. 1, 2020 to Nov. 30, 2021.

With all factors taken into account, Philadelphia was in the top 10.

In fact, Orkin ranked Philadelphia as the nation's second bed-buggiest city.

Philadelphia's No. 2 rank is a major jump from 2021. Orkin said Philly went up 12 spots in the rankings.

Other Pennsylvania metro regions that made the list were Pittsburgh at No. 20 and Harrisburg, which is new to the list, at No. 42.
