Here are the top 3 stories in Philadelphia today:

  1. A Philadelphia woman is wanted for killing her mom's 49-year-old fiancé during a fight on New Year's Eve in Montgomery County. 24-year-old Samiyah Williams fatally shot Adronne Reaves in an apartment lobby after Williams' mom, Joi Furman, called her daughter saying Reaves "laid his hands on her." Officers had been called to the scene earlier in the evening for a domestic dispute involving Reaves and Furman. (Daily Voice)
  2. Amid a spike in coronavirus infections, Philadelphia school district students will be back in school as planned on Tuesday. The decision to keep Philly schools open for in-person learning comes as the city is logging more COVID-19 infections than at any other point during the pandemic, with about 1 in every 5 tests coming back positive. Some nearby Pennsylvania districts are following Philly's lead, while other neighboring districts in New Jersey are opting for temporary virtual instruction. (PhillyVoice.com)
  3. The Arden Theatre will reopen live on Jan. 13, 2022. As part of the theatre's continued improvement to the facilities towards reopening, a new HVAC system for the F. Otto Haas Stage has been installed, with additional enhancements occurring at a later date. Originally slated for March 2020, “A Streetcar Named Desire” held just one public performance at the Arden before the company shut down; this production will return to open the 2022 Mainstage Season.
