Philly's Angela Giampolo Dedicates Time To LGBTQ+ Legal Advocacy

PHILADELPHIA — Without community leaders, Philadelphia wouldn’t hum along nearly as smoothly as it does. We’d miss their contributions in big and small ways.

Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to recognize these often unsung community leaders and celebrate their contributions.

What does this community leader do?

Angela is the premier LGBTQ+ legal advocate in Philadelphia. She brands herself as "Philly Gay Lawyer" and has for the last 15 years, long before it was safe to do so. Her firm is Giampolo Law Group, and she serves the LGBTQ+ community for all of their LGBTQ+ legal needs.

Why do you believe the community leader should be recognized or honored?

In addition to all that she does for the community between her pro bono work, radio show and TV appearances etc. she recently launched her non-profit, the Caravan of Hope and took an RV (mobile law firm) on a nationwide tour stopping in 14 cities providing pro bono legal services throughout all of Pride Month. And her senior Chihuahua was her co-pilot! She broadcasted her month longer journey on her social media, and we all watched as she traveled 4500 miles to bring hope to folks in the LGBTQ+ community who need it most right now.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the community hero?

Angela naturally exudes a kind of strength that not only projects a sense of safety to those under her wing, but she’s also a natural teacher who shares her power. As a friend, Angela has taught me how to balance strength and compassion, and I have learned to love community (as well as myself within said community) on a deeper level.
