The Michelin Guide in May said it was sending anonymous inspectors to Philadelphia to find restaurants for the prestigious dining guide.

PHILADELPHIA — Back in May, the Michelin Guide said it was finally coming to Philadelphia to find restaurants worthy of being included in the prestigious dining guide.

And come November, we will know which spots made the list.

The company said it will reveal the 2025 Michelin Guide Northeast Cities edition on Nov. 18 at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia.

"We are excited to honor and celebrate the talented culinary community of the Northeast Cities in the iconic city of Philadelphia, which is a shining example of hospitality," Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guide. "These five cities are home to a rich foundation of culinary history and culture that makes each city stand out for its unique talent and local flavors. Our anonymous Inspectors look forward to sharing their discoveries with the world, including spotlighting eateries in Boston and Philadelphia for the very first time."

Chefs will be invited to discover whether their restaurants have received a Michelin Star or another Michelin Guide distinction.

The guide’s selection process is determined by anonymous inspectors and remains completely independent.

Michelin’s historical methodology is based on five universal criteria, to ensure each destination’s selection equity:

  1. Quality products
  2. The harmony of flavors
  3. The mastery of cooking techniques
  4. The voice and personality of the chef as reflected in the cuisine
  5. Consistency between each visit and throughout the menu (each restaurant is inspected several times a year).

Michelin not only gives out its coveted stars, but also the Bib Gourmand Award.

This award highlights the best value for money restaurants offering a three-course meal at a reasonable price.

The price limit for Bib Gourmand consideration varies from country to country, depending on the cost of living, but the inspectors are searching for the same high quality, wherever they happen to be in the world.
