Here are the top stories today in Philadelphia:
- The Pennsylvania SPCA will be hosting a dog fashion show in hopes of finding forever homes for its adoptable dogs. The fashion show, called "Project Ruffway," will be hosted on Oct. 20 in the 46th-floor Penthouse space for sale at The Residences at The Ritz-Carlton. The event will bring local personalities, including Taryn Hatcher, Natalie Egenolf, John Clark, and Ruben Amaro Jr. together with dogs up for adoption to walk the "ruffway." (Philadelphia Patch)
- The trial has been postponed for a man accused of shooting six Philadelphia police officers in Tioga-Nicetown in Aug. 2019. Maurice Hill will be on trial for a number of charges, including more than 60 attempted murder charges to account for not only the officers he's accused of shooting, but also the ones who investigators said were put in harm's way during a shootout more than two years ago. Hill is scheduled to appear next in court on Jan. 18 for a hearing to allow his defense to ask for certain pieces of evidence not to be used during the trial, which has been moved to Sept. 19, 2022. - A West Oak Lane native is not wasting her shot as βHamilton' returns to a Philly stage starting this Wednesday. Philadelphia native Ta'Rea Campbell will be among those performing in the upcoming North American Hamilton tour, which has been on pause for almost two years due to the pandemic. Hamilton will be running at The Academy of Music from Oct. 20-Nov. 28. (NBC 10 Philadelphia)
- Comic Jackie Fabulous is bringing her βfabulous' stand-up show to Punch Line Philly. The 2019 semi-finalist of America's Got Talent will be in Philadelphia for five performances where she will bring her own life experiences as a woman to the stage. Fans can catch Jackie Fabulous performing at Punch Line Philly from Oct. 21-23. (NBC 10 Philadelphia)
- On Monday, the Philadelphia Mural Arts announced they are teaming up with The Colored Conventions Project at Penn State to unveil new work. The new mural brings nineteenth-century Black organizing to life and will be accompanied by educational resources dedicated to The Colored Conventions Movement. The new installation at Washington Ave. is scheduled for spring of next year. (CBS Philly)
