  1. A 38-year-old woman was killed in a crash involving a SEPTA bus in Southwest Philadelphia, police say. A man was driving a gray Ford Focus northbound on the 2800 block of S. 20th Street when it struck a SEPTA bus also traveling northbound in the rear. He sustained minor injuries to the knee and his passenger was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead. (CBS Philly)
  2. Police are searching for an armed suspect who shot a man while driving on I-95 in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, and then followed the victim's vehicle to the IKEA in South Philadelphia. The suspect has been identified as 21-year-old Zion Blyden. He is at large and currently wanted for Attempted Homicide, Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault and Recklessly Endangering Another Person.   3. Mummers are preparing to move forward with a parade in 2022. While no official word has yet to be given, various Mummers organizations have begun preparing for the New Year's Day parade. A spokesperson for Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney says that discussions between the city and Mummers leadership about the 2022 Mummers Parade are “ongoing.” (Philadelphia magazine)
  4. Philadelphia’s District Attorney has given out another round of grants to nonprofits to combat violence in the city with a stern warning to those who are thinking about committing a gun crime. Larry Krasner traveled to Southwest Philadelphia to distribute his fifth round of grants designed to help address the root causes of violence in Philadelphia. The DA said before the pandemic when the courts were open, his conviction rate was about 85 percent, and he will continue to prosecute gun crimes. (WHYY)
  5. Bill McSwain, the top federal prosecutor in Philadelphia under former President Donald Trump, will run for governor, he announced Monday. He is joining a crowded Republican field that may still yet get bigger for the 2022 election. McSwain, 52, lives in Chester County and went back to private law practice after more than three years as the U.S. attorney for the eastern district of Pennsylvania, which included Philadelphia.
