Here are the top four stories in Philadelphia today:
- Two men were injured in a double shooting in Southwest Philadelphia on Thursday morning. The incident took place at a gas station at South 58th Street and Baltimore Avenue. Both of the men are in stable condition and an investigation is underway. (CBS Philly)
- Philadelphia City Councilman Bobby Henon announced his resignation on Thursday morning after being convicted of multiple charges in a corruption trial. He was found guilty of 10 counts of conspiracy, bribery, and honest services wire fraud after it was revealed that a local labor leader kept Henon on his payroll to “keep a tight grip” on construction jobs in the City. Henon, who represented the 6th District, said in a statement that his dedication to northeast Philadelphia will “never diminish.” (FOX 29 Philadelphia)
- The recent string of winter weather has local Philadelphia hardware stores overstocked with winter products. As the weather continues to persist, Philadelphians should stock up on shovels, salt, and winter apparel. (CBS Philly)
- A Philadelphia-born army veteran he's putting his cooking skills to the test in Guy Fierri's newest show. Kevin Cooper is an army vet-turned chef who will take on Fuy Fieri directly in an episode of the Food Network show “Guy’s Chance of a Lifetime.” Episodes air Sundays at 9:00 p.m. (NBC 10 Philadelphia)
