Here are the top stories in Philadelphia today:

  1. A Philadelphia private school teacher is the subject of an FBI investigation for child pornography. 41-year-old Andrew Wolf was taken into custody on Oct. 7 after agents served a search warrant. Wolf, who taught mathematics at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, is accused of using his school email address to upload suspected child pornography onto his account. (Northern Highlands Daily Voice)
  2. One of the key cogs β€” and final remaining players β€” from the 2018 Super Bowl championship team is leaving the Eagles. Tight end Zach Ertz has been traded to the Arizona Cardinals for cornerback Tay Gowan and a 2022 fifth-round draft pick. Ertz has been with the Eagles for his entire career since he was drafted in 2013. (Philadelphia Patch)
  3. A new report from Mayor Jim Kenney’s administration shows Philly has a long road ahead for efforts to improve traffic safety while making transit more sustainable and equitable. Back in 2018, the city’s Office of Transportation, Infrastructure and Sustainability launched the CONNECT Plan, which broadly sought to set a new agenda for transportation spending. The primary goals included eliminating auto fatalities while strengthening bike, pedestrian, and mass transit links. Kenney administration officials conclude that the city accomplished 61% of the improvements they set out to complete by 2020, with 32% moving ahead on a delayed timeline. (WHYY)
  4. "King Richard," starring Philly native Will Smith, will be among 150 films featured at the Philadelphia Film Festival. The movie tells the story of Venus and Serena Williams' journey from Compton to the global tennis stage, highlighting their father's drive and perseverance in the process. The festival lineup includes films from 50 countries and runs from Wednesday Oct. 20 to Sunday Oct. 31. (PhillyVoice.com)
  5. Longtime residents of the University City Townhomes in West Philadelphia joined City Councilmember Jamie Gauthier to protest the sale of the rental complex. The tenants, many of them seniors, recently learned that Altman Management Company decided not to renew its annual affordable housing contract β€” for the first time in nearly 40 years. The decision means that all of them must find a new place to live by next July. It also likely spells the end of affordable housing at the site, located in the swiftly gentrifying section of the city that the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University call home.
