Here are the top stories today in Philadelphia:

  1. A 17-year-old was shot inside a home in North Philadelphia on Monday evening. The teen suffered two gunshot graze wounds to the head and arm and one gunshot wound to the abdomen, and is currently listed in critical condition. Authorities say that about 21 spent shell casings were recovered from the street, indicating that the home was targeted. (FOX 29 Philadelphia)
  2. Onlookers who videotaped the rape on a SEPTA train in Philadelphia last week could potentially be subject to a crime, though that would be up to the District Attorney's office. SEPTA police chief Thomas Nestel III said there were "very few" notifications to police about the incident even though there were people on the train with phones in their hands who witnessed the alleged rape take place. The entire incident was captured on video surveillance, and SEPTA General Manager Leslie Richards said investigators plan to go through the video to understand the incident, as well as what other SEPTA riders were doing. (CNN)
  3. There's been another celebrity sighting in Philadelphia. Actor Nick Nolte was spotted filming a new movie in Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse section. The film, which is about a young man who befriends a homeless man played by Nolte, is directed by Brandon Eric Kamin, who lives in Philly. (CBS Philly)
  4. Richard Nicoletti, the Philadelphia SWAT Officer who sprayed Black Lives Matter protestors with pepper spray on video, was scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday. Nicoletti was fired from the Philadelphia police department after he used chemicals in June of 2020 to clear the protesters from the Vine Street Expressway. A municipal judge dismissed the case this past spring, but District Attorney Larry Krasner refiled charges, including recklessly endangering another person and assault. (CBS Philly)
  5. Philadelphia police have identified the man who was fatally shot in the head by a stray bullet near Lincoln High School in Mayfair as 65-year-old Jeffrey Carter. Police had responded at around 3 p.m. for a shooting near the intersection of Rowland and Ryan Avenues, which is just outside Lincoln High School. A 16-year-old student from the nearby high school was also shot in the back of the head as he ran away and was taken to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
