- Two women were killed in a shooting inside a Philadelphia building described as a speakeasy. The discovery was made around 7:44 p.m. Thursday at an abandoned church on the 1900 block of Ridge Avenue. On the first floor of the property, officers found 56-year-old Constance Marshall shot in the armpit and Irene McNair, 31, shot in the torso. (WPVI-TV)
- Philadelphia COVID-19 numbers are falling as indoor activity ramps up. Philadelphia Health Commissioner Dr. Cheryl Bettigole discussed the latest COVID-19 updates and transmission rates. Dr. Bettigole detailed an experimental COVID-19 antiviral pill and improving coronavirus number in Philadelphia amid increased indoor activity. (FOX 29 Philadelphia)
- Temple University is planning to close Cecil B. Moore Avenue between Broad Street (Route 611) and 13th Street in Philadelphia beginning Monday, November 8, for sewer repair. The closure will be in place Mondays through Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. through Thursday, Nov. 25. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays may occur. (MyChesCo)
- A Pennsylvania lottery ticket worth $650,000 was sold in Philadelphia. A ticket for the state’s ‘Cash 5 with Quick Cash’ game matched all five balls for Wednesday’s drawing. The jackpot-winning ticket was sold at Market Newsstand LLC (1700 Market St.), which will receive a $5,000 bonus. (Daily Voice)
- Full closures are scheduled in both directions on Interstate 76 at 30th Street next week for overhead viaduct construction in Center City Philadelphia. The lane and ramp closures will allow crews to install drainage components on the rehabilitated Schuylkill Avenue viaduct over the expressway. Repairs to the overhead viaduct are part of PennDOT’s $103.6 million project to rehabilitate the Chestnut Street bridge over the Schuylkill River and eight other nearby structures. (MyChesCo)
