Uber Driver Shot In Philly Carjacking, 1 Sought: Reports

An Uber driver is in stable condition after being shot during a carjacking incident early Thursday morning on Fairmount Avenue.

PHILADELPHIA — An Uber driver is recovering and police are looking for one of two people involved after an early Thursday morning shooting and carjacking in Philadelphia.

The incident occurred at about 2:30 a.m. on the 900 block of Fairmount Avenue, according to Action News.

Fox 29 reports the driver, 58, picked up two people in a secluded area on that block and the passengers fired two shots, forcing the driver out of his vehicle.

The driver was shot in the chest and arm and is in stable condition at a hospital, while police are searching for the suspects who drove off in the victim's black 2024 Chevy sedan with Florida plates, NBC10 reports.

One suspect, 17, was taken into custody in Jersey City and authorities found the vehicle and a firearm, according to Fox.
