Here are the top stories in Philadelphia today:
- A 32-year-old woman pregnant woman was shot and killed at her Philadelphia baby shower Saturday night. The woman was leaving her shower with a car full of gifts when she was shot in the head and stomach on the 6100 block of Palmetto Street around 8:30 p.m. Both the woman and her unborn child were pronounced dead, and 11 shell casings were recovered from the scene.(Northern Highlands Daily Voice)
- Four teen girls in Philadelphia have been charged with aggravated assault and ethnic intimidation, among other offenses, after allegedly attacking an Asian woman on a commuter train. The alleged unprovoked attack occurred the afternoon of Nov. 17, when four black girls harassed and then struck a group of four Asian students, three male and one female. The four suspects, who are all under the age of 17, were identified after one of the girls' mothers recognized her in a viral video of the attack. (New York Post)
- This Thanksgiving, the Museum of the American Revolution is hosting events and exhibits for the whole family. On Friday, Nov. 26, the museum opens its latest exhibition: Liberty: Don Troiani's Paintings of the Revolutionary War. The exhibition is included with regular museum admission, where guests can also make their own ornaments and grab a seasonal drink from the museum café. (PhillyVoice.com)
- More than a dozen Wyndham Philadelphia workers went on strike early Sunday morning, seeking fair raises and better working conditions. The workers are part of Unite Here Local 274, which represents approximately 4,000 hotel, food, and hospitality workers across the Philadelphia area. They were joined in solidarity by other union members, community supporters, clergy, and political allies. (FOX 29 Philadelphia)
- Firefighters battled a house fire in Philadelphia’s Wissinoming neighborhood early Sunday morning. The fire was reported just before 3 a.m. to a home on Tacony Street. There are no reports of injuries; the cause of the fire is still under investigation. (CBS Philly)
