  • 1) Reaction to Roe v. Wade Being Overturned: The story was the overall most read in Chester County. It focused on local lawmakers' reactions to the Supreme Court’s decision to return the decision of when and whether a woman can get an abortion back to the states. The reactions from the Democratic lawmakers, including Gov. Tom Wolf and Governor-elect Attorney General Josh Shapiro, and the locals including U.S. Rep Chrissy Houlahan, state Reps. Mary Scanlon, Melissa Shusterman, Dan Williams, Christina Sappey came in very fast. Republican lawmakers did not respond so fast. The story also contains the view of Philadelphia Archbishop Nelson J. Perez and Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney.
  • 2) VF Middle School Janitor Charged With Sexual Abuse Of Two Students A 23-year-old janitor at Valley Forge Middle School was arrested in April on charges of having inappropriate relations with two students, ages 14 and 15, Tredyffrin Township police reported. Drayton was dismissed from his employment and banned from school property. He is free on $50,000 awaiting trial in the Chester County Justice Center.
  • 3) Golden Retriever Saves His Devon Family Amanda Bernard of Devon was taking a walk with her dogs at the Willows Park in Radnor when she heard a screeching sound. A racoon bit her Jack Russell terrier, Venus. Her golden retriever, Ranger, pulled the racoon off of the terrier. Venus was treated for puncture wounds. Bernard was vaccinated for rabies. She canceled her vacation to Europe.
  • 4) Small Plane Crashes On Tredyffrin Township Gulph Course A small plane crashed at 3:29 on June 1 in an open area of St. David’s Golf Club course on Upper Gulph Road in the Wayne section of Tredyffrin Township. The pilot and his wife, both in their 70s, were removed from the wreckage by golfers. They were taken to Paoli hospital. Two cats were rescued. The aircraft was enroute to Wings Field in Blue Bell, Plymouth Township, from Fort Myers, Fla. with a stop for fuel in South Carolina.
  • 5) Conestoga Student Killed In Vehicle Crash: Police Griffin Lang, 17, a Conestoga Junior, was fatally injured on Oct 2 in a one-vehicle crash on Contention Lane. He was 16. Griffin was on the track team and was known for being “fearless, curious, generous, compassionate, with sparkle and charm. Hundreds attended services at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Berwyn.
