Chesco 5K To Fight Opioid And Heroin Addiction Is Oct. 7

Chester County is hosting the 7th annual 5K Color Run and Walk to raise money to fight the heroin and opioid crisis plaguing our country.

WEST CHESTER, PA – The 2023 Chester County Color 5K run and walk to raise awareness and funds to combat the heroin epidemic is scheduled on Saturday, Oct. 7, in Exton Park, 800 Swedesford Road, Exton.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the race begins at 9 a.m. The run along the Chester Valley Trail begins in Exton Park.

The funds will support Chester County’s Community Outreach program to steer those who have overdosed into treatment programs.

Survivors are invited to meet with a certified recovery specialist within an hour of entering an emergency room st s hospital.

In 2022, a total of $120,000 for Chester County’s program to fight opioid and heroin addiction.

The county recently introduced the Law Enforcement Treatment Initiative to save lives.

It provides an alternative option to law enforcement for people with substance use disorder who commit low-level, non-violent crimes to get treatment instead of punishment.

Individuals can also contact a member of law enforcement to ask for a referral or to be connected to treatment with no threat of arrest or prosecution.

The cost to participate in the color run and walk is $35.
