PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Excavation and construction crews have broken ground on a new local chain of the discount supermarket giant Aldi in East Pikeland, and significant progress has been made in recent weeks.

The store will be located on 297 Schuylkill Road across from O'Grady's.

"The Aldi site in Phoenixville is bustling with activity," Schorn Construction, a contractor on the project, shared last week. "We are about to go vertical with the building while we complete the remainder of the sitework. The largest retaining wall is beginning to take shape at the same time that we wrap up our building foundations. The clear weather that we have been having has really allowed us to make a great push forward on this job!"

It will be the third major grocery store chain in the Phoenixville area, adding another option to the existing lineup of Giant and Redner's.
