Dogwood Festival Is Back: May 17
The 80-year festival, which began in May 1943 when a dogwood tree was planted in Reeves Park, is still going strong.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA – The 80th annual Dogwood Festival and Parade with rides, carnival food, and games is set to begin Wednesday, May 17, in Reeves Park, 148 Third St.
The four-day festival concludes on Saturday, May 20, with a parade followed by a tree planting at the Main Street entrance of the park to celebrate the origin of the event. The parade begins at 1 p.m. The event is hosted by the Phoenixville Jaycees Foundation.
It began in May 1943, when Edward C. Shannon, a retired Army major general, dedicated a tree in Reeves Park in memory of the locals who served in the military, many of whom had died in active duty during World War II.

The festival, presented by Videon Chevrolet of Phoenixville, culminates with a parade featuring a sensory-friendly experience for those who may require a low-sensory environment.
The route along Main Street between Walnut and Washington streets will proceed without bright lights and sirens.
