How Safe Is Phoenixville Hospital? New Patient Safety Grades Released

How safe is your local hospital, and how does it compare to others in the region?

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — The latest ranking of hospital safety scores has been released, featuring numerous healthcare facilities in the greater Phoenixville area and shedding an updated light on what patients can expect.

The Leapfrog Group’s Spring 2025 Hospital Safety Grades are a biannual ranking that assigns a “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” to all general hospitals in the United States based on their ability to protect patients from medical errors, accidents, injuries and infections.

Phoenixville Hospital scored a 'C' in the latest rankings, along with 35 percent of other hospitals nationally. The grade puts it firmly in the "average" category for safety, according to Leapfrog.

The hospital received poor marks for handling blood infections and urinary tract infections, kidney injuries after surgery, death from treatable complications, serious breathing problems, and handwashing.

It scored well on surgery on dangerous objects in the body, air or gas bubbles in the blood, safe medication administration, communication with nurses, and bedside care.

Nearby, Einstein Medical Center Montgomery and Suburban Community Hospital, both in East Norriton, received the top "A" grade. Roxborough Hospital scored an 'A' as well. Jefferson Lansdale received a 'B,' and Temple Health Chestnut Hill a 'D.'

According to the safety grades, no Pennsylvania hospitals received an 'F' grade but 9 hospitals in the state received a 'D'. Thirty-four hospitals got a 'C'.
