Man Bites Wife, East Pikeland Police Say

Police say the man had blood on his face and hands when they took him into the station.

A 32-year-old Phoenixville man was arrested last weekend after police say he assaulted his wife, even biting the woman at one point, during a drive home from a wedding.

According to court documents, on Feb. 24 at 2:15 a.m., East Pikeland police responded to the 100 block of East Seven Stars Road after receiving an anonymous report of a domestic disturbance.

When the officer arrived at the scene, he saw a grey Audi in the driveway of the residence in question. A woman was attempting to get out of the car, while a man was pulling her back in, according to police.

Police say the officer told the man to back away from his wife, but he refused. The officer frisked him, cuffed him, and put him in the back of the patrol car.

The officer noted that the victim had blood on her hand and face. Her lips were also bruised and bleeding, and she had an abrasion on the back of her right hand. Through tears, police say she explained that she and her husband got in a fight on the ride home from a wedding in Philadelphia.

Backup arrived, and the husband and wife were transported to the East Pikeland Police Department in separate vehicles.

At the station, the victim provided a written statement that her husband had struck her in the face, pulled her hair, and bit her right hand.

The husband said he didn’t know anything and refused to answer questions. According to police, he had blood on his hands, face, and shirt, but no cuts of his own.

The man was charged with simple assault, harassment, and disorderly conduct. He faces preliminary hearing on March 14.
