National Night Out Event Set for Tuesday in Phoenixville

Night raises awareness to some important and simple things that can reduce crime.

The first Tuesday in August is the day traditionally set aside for National Night Out.

Phoenixville Town Watch is sponsoring the major event in Phoenixville from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Michael Kuznar and Ginger Murphy of Phoenixville Town Watch asnwered questions about the event for Patch:

What do I do as a Town Watch member?

MK: "If you see something say something.  Don't get us wrong, we're not about telling on people or spying on our neighbors by any means.  It's about helping maintain a healthy and safe environment in our community by not just having criminals afraid when they see police officers, but of people in their community as well.  I always ask; how often do you hear of a criminal case in the news solved with the words "after receiving an anonymous tip?".

How do I become a member of Town Watch?

MK: Contact myself Michael Kuznar or Ginger Murphy either on Facebook by looking up Phoenixville Town Watch or myself by Email  mikekuznarford@yahoo.com

Where is the Night Out event taking place on Tuesday?

MK: Grace Crossing Community Church on Gay and Church street around 6pm.

What do you want people to do on National Night Out Day?
Ginger Murphy:  "Turn on outside light, meet their neighbors and meet other people in their community.  Also meet up and our National Night Out meeting place at Grace Crossing Community Church on Gay and Church Street in Phoenixville. Starts at 6pm and ends at 9pm.  Remember to bring your kids. We have face painting, games and a police car for the kids to get into and look at.  Also a fire engine, the young kids love that, also dive rescue units, learning how to have fun and be safe.Town Watch is a way to get everyone involved in keeping people safe and educating the community."
