PA Jewish Legislative Caucus Stands With Israel: Statement

Pennsylvania's Jewish caucus of lawmakers issued a statement Sunday regarding the attack on Israel.

HARRISBURG, PA – The Pennsylvania Jewish Legislative Caucus issued a public statement Sunday in response to the terrorist attack by Hamas on Israel.

"Saturday was Shemini Atzeret, a holiday meant to be a day of joyous celebration for the Jewish people, " according to the statement.

"Instead, we are heartbroken to learn that Hamas orchestrated a terrorist attack deliberately murdering and abducting civilians, marring this holy day as one of the most heinous acts of terrorism in Israel's history.

"Israel has a right to defend itself, and our hearts go out to the people of Israel and the Israeli Defense Forces as they fight to secure their homeland.

"We stand with Israel as they defend against this attack, and we pray for the people of Israel."

The caucus has 25 members including Rep. Lisa Borowski, Delaware County; Rep. Tim Briggs, Montgomery County; Sen. Amanda Cappelletti, Delaware and Montgomery counties; Sen. Carolyn T. Comitta, Chester and Delaware counties;

Also Rep. Mary Jo Daley, Montgomery County; Rep. Steve Malagari, Montgomery County; Rep. Joanne E. McClinton, Delaware and Philadelphia counties; Rep. Ben Sanchez, Montgomery County; Rep. Melissa Shusterman, Chester County; and Rep. Joe Webster, Montgomery County.

The caucus is co-chaired by state Rep. Dan Frankel, an Allegheny County Democrat, and state Sen. Judy Schwank, a Berks County Democrat. More information on the caucus is available here.
