Phoenixville 2021 Election Results: Update

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Votes are being tallied in Pennsylvania's 2021 Municipal General Election. In Chester County on Wednesday morning, just over 29,000 of 40,781 mail-in votes have been counted.
This story will be updated throughout the day. Numbers reported earlier were from in-person voting results reported by midnight Tuesday. Updates will be coming throughout the day as mail-in ballots are being counted. Currently, about two-thirds of the mail-in vote has been tallied.

Phoenixville had several uncontested local races, though five candidates were vying for four seats on the Phoenixville Area School District Board of Directors.

Phoenixville Area School District School Directors
In the Phoenixville Area School District, five candidates ran for four seats as School Director At Large. The five appeared on all Phoenixville Ward ballots and on ballots in East Pikeland Township.
The race was very tight between Caitlyn Carminito, Susan Turner, and Scott Overland who ran as Democrats/Republicans and Victoria Walker was listed as a Democrat. Emily Shanley ran as a Republican.
At midnight on Tuesday, all precincts had reported the in-person vote count. Turner at that time had 3,200 votes and Carminito had 3,199 votes. Shanley brought in 3,133 and Overland had 3,090. Walker had 2,928 votes.
By noon on Wednesday, the tally was still very close. Carminito had 4,669 votes, and Turner had 4,648. Overland had 4,470 and Walker 4,466. Shanley trailed with 3,479 votes.
Phoenixville Borough Council
Candidates for Phoenixville Borough Council run uncontested in all four wards. In the North Ward, Richard Mark Kirkner, a Democrat runs uncontested.
In Phoenixville's Middle Ward, Beth Burckley, also a Democrat, runs uncontested.
In the East Ward, James Carminito, a Democrat, is also the sole candidate and Democrat Dana Dugan runs uncontested in the West Ward.
Board Director Laura Reed resigned on Oct. 18 and Phoenixville Area School District will appoint someone to fill her vacancy in the weeks ahead. Reed's term would have ended in 2023. Read that Patch story here.
Mayor of Phoenixville Borough
The race for Mayor of Phoenixville Borough was no race, as Mayor Peter Urscheler ran uncontested for re-election. He received 2,862 votes, 96 percent of those cast with all precincts reporting, by Wednesday at noon. There were 92 write-in votes.
