Phoenixville Officer Honored For 'Life-Saving' Heroism
The quick thinking and compassion of a Phoenixville officer saved a life, officials said.
PHOENIXVILLE, PA — A Phoenixville police officer has been honored with a special "Life-Saving" award for heroism by the borough council.
Officer Peter Karpovich went above and beyond to help prevent an individual from making a life-altering decision.
The incident occurred earlier this year when Karpovich and Corporal Anthony Duchnosky were called to a well-being check.

The individual was "visibly in distress" when they arrived and Karpovich learned of a plan that the person was "prepared to carry out."
Karpovich spoke compassionately with the individual and ultimately was able to remove them from danger.

“Officer Peter Karpovich’s quick thinking, bravery, and compassion saved a life,” said Mayor Peter Urscheler. “His actions embody the highest values of the Phoenixville Police Department and our community. Thank you, Officer Karpovich, for your extraordinary service.”
Karpovich has been with the force since 2017.
