Phoenixville Soccer Star Will Play for Penn State

Phoenixville Area High School senior Cecilia Knaub on Wednesday committed to play soccer next year at Penn State University.

Knaub, who will graduate from Phoenixville this spring and plans to major in economics at Penn State, also considered Villanova and Syracuse universities.
Ultimately, though, “ I chose Penn State for the opportunity to compete for a National Championship at one of the top programs in the country,” she said.

Once at Penn State, Knaub said she wants to “keep dominating the Big Ten and win a National Championship.”
Knaub’s Phoenixville coach had high praise for her.
“Cecilia epitomizes every leadership quality you could want in a high school player,” Phoenixville head coach Tim Raub said. “Her hard work and dedication are second to none and she is one of the key reasons why our program has been as successful as it has over the last few years. We can only hope that our younger players have taken something from what she provided.”
