Slow Going in Downtown Phoenixville
UPDATE: Push is on to finish the work one day ahead of time to avoid a third day of traffic headaches.

Road construction will have Bridge Street closed to vehicular traffic through Thursday of this week.
The repaving project began in earnest on Tuesday, closing the biggest commercial street in the borough to traffic between Main and Gay Streets. That is making for some slow going in around the bridges between the North and South sides of town.
The work is part of the final stages of the multi-year Streetscapes project to improve the downtown business district.
Update as of 9 p.m. Tuesday
Bridge Street is expected to be re-opened by the end of the work day on Wednesday. The original plan was for the work to be done by the end of the day on Thursday. Following the Borough Council meting on Tuesday Borough Manager Jean Krack told Patch that the traffic situation has been "untenable" with road closures. Krack says the township is working with the contractor to try to get the resurfacing done as quickly as possible.
