Sweet Brew Cafe Celebrates First Year In Business In Phoenixville
The cafe specializes in New York bagels and lattes.
PHOENIXVILLE, PA — In the 14 months since the Sweet Brew Cafe opened as a bagel and coffee store in Phoenixville, Michael Weiss, and his wife, Jamie, learned to deal with the ups and downs of being small business owners.
As an example, a day after a feature appeared on their new business in the Patch, their daily delivery of genuine New York bagels got sidetracked by a snowstorm.
Despite the occasional glitch, Michael and Jamie Weiss report their business is thriving.

They started out creating toppings added to cream cheese on fresh bagels shipped daily from a baker in Long Island, N.Y.
“A lot has happened in the last year,” Michael Weiss, 29, said Thursday, celebrating the first anniversary of the takeout cafe at 158 Bridge St.

“We expanded the menu. We have breakfast sandwiches with bacon, egg, and cheese, and lox and cream cheese. We have lattes and expressos.”
The cafe has six employees.
Every week, the cafe features a special new flavor of coffee and cream cheese.
King Cake is the popular flavor of this week for lattes and cream cheese spread topped with purple, yellow and green sprinkles.
“Next week, we are featuring cinnamon bun flavors,” Jamie Weiss shared Thursday. “The kids love our rainbow bagels.”
Speaking about kids, the couple has a baby on the way. Jamie Weiss is expected in June.
“Everything just fell into place at the right time,” Michael Weiss said.
“We’ve been blessed,” Jamie Weiss said just before a friend and neighbor, Nancy Stahl, stopped in.
Stahl, a regular customer, said her favorite is a sesame bagel with cream cheese and cucumbers.
“We come here for coffee and lunch,” Stahl said.
The Weisses are always coming up with new ideas for specialty bagels and cream cheese.
They shared that the green bagels are likely to have a comeback for St. Patrick’s Day.
The green bagels, advertised as “A Sweet Brew Thing,” appeared earlier this month in support of the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 57, which ended in a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
