Firefighters first tried to extinguish the blaze without removing the contents of the truck, but were able to because of how deep the fire was. The truck was then dumped out onto the roadway to be fully extinguished.

The fire department used a backhoe from Phoenixville Public Works to spread out the material and remove all hot spots.
