Tree Crashes Through Historic Covered Bridge In Valley Forge Park

The road and nearby trail have been shut down, park officials said.

VALLEY FORGE NATIONAL HISTORICAL PARK, PA — A tree fell and crashed through the historic Covered Bridge in Valley Forge on Thursday afternoon, the park confirmed.

The road is closed until further notice, park officials announced.

The bridge is at the intersection of Yellow Springs Road and Route 252.

It's not clear exactly what caused the incident, though recent storms have damaged other trees in the park and rainfall can make soil unstable.

The tree appears to have done significant damage to the top and the side of the bridge.

Additionally, Valley Creek Trail is shut down between Wolfinger Trail and the Covered Bridge.
